Statement of Scientific Code of Ethics

This statement of scientific code of ethics applies to all parties involved in the publication process of Alzam: Journal of Islamic Early Childhood Education, including the journal's management, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. This code of ethics is based on the LIPI Regulation No. 5 of 2014 regarding the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication. The ethics of scientific publication uphold three ethical values: (i) Neutrality, which means free from conflicts of interest in managing publications; (ii) Justice, which means granting authorship rights to those who deserve to be listed as authors; and (iii) Honesty, which means being free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publications.

Responsibilities of Journal Management

  1. Determining the name of the journal, its scope of knowledge, frequency of publication, and accreditation submission if necessary.
  2. Establishing the membership of the editorial board.
  3. Defining the relationships between the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other parties through a contract.
  4. Respecting confidentiality for all contributors, including researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
  5. Implementing norms and regulations regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
  6. Reviewing the journal's policies and communicating them to authors, the editorial board, reviewers, and readers.
  7. Creating guidelines for the rules and ethical conduct for editors and reviewers.
  8. Publishing the journal regularly.
  9. Ensuring the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of the journal's publication.
  10. Establishing networks with research institutions and relevant agencies.
  11. Preparing necessary permits and other legal aspects.

Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Balancing the needs of readers and authors.
  2. Continuously striving to improve the quality of publications.
  3. Implementing processes to ensure the quality of published work.
  4. Prioritizing the freedom of expression in an objective manner.
  5. Maintaining the integrity of the authors' academic record.
  6. Issuing corrections, clarifications, and apologies when necessary.
  7. Being responsible for the style and format of scientific writing, while the content and all statements in the manuscript are the responsibility of the author.
  8. Actively seeking feedback from authors, readers, reviewers, and the editorial board members to improve the quality of publications.
  9. Regularly conducting internal evaluations of the quality of the scientific journal.
  10. Supporting authors' initiatives regarding publication ethics by including a clearance form with each manuscript submission.
  11. Being open-minded to new opinions or views that may differ from personal opinions for the advancement of science.
  12. Avoiding biased decisions by not favoring personal views, the author, or third parties, and seeking scientifically justifiable solutions.
  13. Encouraging authors to improve their manuscripts until they meet the publication standards.

Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

  1. Reviewing manuscripts and providing feedback to the editor to help determine the eligibility of a manuscript for publication.
  2. Refraining from conducting a scientific review of any manuscript in which they have a conflict of interest, either directly or indirectly.
  3. Providing constructive suggestions, feedback, and positive recommendations for the scientific manuscript.
  4. Preserving the confidentiality of the authors by not disclosing corrections, suggestions, and recommendations to any unauthorized parties.
  5. Encouraging authors to make improvements to their manuscripts.
  6. Re-reviewing revised manuscripts to ensure they meet the established standards.
  7. Reviewing manuscripts in a timely manner according to the journal's guidelines, based on established scientific principles (data collection methods, author’s legality, conclusions, etc.).

Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Ensuring that all individuals listed as authors meet the criteria for authorship.
  2. Being collectively responsible for the work and content of the article, including the methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
  3. Disclosing the source of resources (including funding), both directly and indirectly.
  4. Explaining any limitations in the research.
  5. Responding to comments from reviewers and the editorial board in a professional, scientific, and timely manner.
  6. Notifying the editor in writing if they intend to withdraw their manuscript.
  7. Declaring that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been published elsewhere in any language, and is not currently under consideration by another publisher.
