Publication Ethic
Statement of Scientific Code of Ethics
This statement of scientific code of ethics applies to all parties involved in the publication process of Alzam: Journal of Islamic Early Childhood Education, including the journal's management, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. This code of ethics is based on the LIPI Regulation No. 5 of 2014 regarding the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication. The ethics of scientific publication uphold three ethical values: (i) Neutrality, which means free from conflicts of interest in managing publications; (ii) Justice, which means granting authorship rights to those who deserve to be listed as authors; and (iii) Honesty, which means being free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publications.
Responsibilities of Journal Management
- Determining the name of the journal, its scope of knowledge, frequency of publication, and accreditation submission if necessary.
- Establishing the membership of the editorial board.
- Defining the relationships between the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other parties through a contract.
- Respecting confidentiality for all contributors, including researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
- Implementing norms and regulations regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
- Reviewing the journal's policies and communicating them to authors, the editorial board, reviewers, and readers.
- Creating guidelines for the rules and ethical conduct for editors and reviewers.
- Publishing the journal regularly.
- Ensuring the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of the journal's publication.
- Establishing networks with research institutions and relevant agencies.
- Preparing necessary permits and other legal aspects.
Responsibilities of Editors
- Balancing the needs of readers and authors.
- Continuously striving to improve the quality of publications.
- Implementing processes to ensure the quality of published work.
- Prioritizing the freedom of expression in an objective manner.
- Maintaining the integrity of the authors' academic record.
- Issuing corrections, clarifications, and apologies when necessary.
- Being responsible for the style and format of scientific writing, while the content and all statements in the manuscript are the responsibility of the author.
- Actively seeking feedback from authors, readers, reviewers, and the editorial board members to improve the quality of publications.
- Regularly conducting internal evaluations of the quality of the scientific journal.
- Supporting authors' initiatives regarding publication ethics by including a clearance form with each manuscript submission.
- Being open-minded to new opinions or views that may differ from personal opinions for the advancement of science.
- Avoiding biased decisions by not favoring personal views, the author, or third parties, and seeking scientifically justifiable solutions.
- Encouraging authors to improve their manuscripts until they meet the publication standards.
Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers
- Reviewing manuscripts and providing feedback to the editor to help determine the eligibility of a manuscript for publication.
- Refraining from conducting a scientific review of any manuscript in which they have a conflict of interest, either directly or indirectly.
- Providing constructive suggestions, feedback, and positive recommendations for the scientific manuscript.
- Preserving the confidentiality of the authors by not disclosing corrections, suggestions, and recommendations to any unauthorized parties.
- Encouraging authors to make improvements to their manuscripts.
- Re-reviewing revised manuscripts to ensure they meet the established standards.
- Reviewing manuscripts in a timely manner according to the journal's guidelines, based on established scientific principles (data collection methods, author’s legality, conclusions, etc.).
Responsibilities of Authors
- Ensuring that all individuals listed as authors meet the criteria for authorship.
- Being collectively responsible for the work and content of the article, including the methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
- Disclosing the source of resources (including funding), both directly and indirectly.
- Explaining any limitations in the research.
- Responding to comments from reviewers and the editorial board in a professional, scientific, and timely manner.
- Notifying the editor in writing if they intend to withdraw their manuscript.
- Declaring that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been published elsewhere in any language, and is not currently under consideration by another publisher.
