https://ejournal.iainutuban.ac.id/index.php/aswalalita/article/view/1298

A dai holds an essential role in building an Islamic society that is obedient, ethical, and cultured. In carrying out the mission of dakwah, a dai not only conveys religious teachings in ritual form but also takes into account the social, cultural, political, and educational aspects of the community. Amidst the complex challenges of modern society, the role of the dai is expected to be more adaptive and relevant to contemporary needs. The question then arises: how can the role of a dai be maximized in creating a morally upright society and contributing to the development of an Islamic civilization that achieves excellence? In this context, the dai is not merely a religious messenger, but also a social transformation agent capable of instilling just and civilized character in individuals and society. This study uses a phenomenological approach with a qualitative method. This method is used to understand the meaning of the phenomenon of "The Strategic Role of Dai in Building Islamic Society and Civilization in Ngimbang Village", based on real symptoms that appear in the social life of the community. The phenomenological approach directs attention to the deep meaning of the presence of a da'i in the life of society, not just looking at his formal activities, but how his presence has a real influence on social change. Therefore, the continuous development of the capacity of da'i, both in terms of knowledge, spirituality, and communication skills, is an important need to realize a holistic, inclusive, and dynamic Islamic civilization.
Vella Octia RamadhaniSalwa Hanifiyyah Al SamhahJamal Ghofir

https://ejournal.iainutuban.ac.id/index.php/aswalalita/article/view/1299

Islam is one of the religions practiced in Indonesia. However, due to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity, Islam in Indonesia has developed with characteristics distinct from those of the Middle East, giving rise to the identity of Islam Nusantara. However, this does not mean a new teaching has been born; rather, Islam in Indonesia has evolved into a culture imbued with Islamic nuances, making it easily accepted by society. This process is inseparable from the efforts of the preachers who devised this powerful strategy, one of whom was Sunan Bonang. Therefore, the researcher wants to determine the extent to which Sunan Bonang's strategy influenced the formation of Islam Nusantara. The purpose of this study is to analyze Sunan Bonang's preaching approach and its impact on the acceptance of Islam among local communities, as well as his contribution to shaping the face of Islam Nusantara. This research uses qualitative methods with a hermeneutic theory approach. This approach was chosen to facilitate researchers' in-depth understanding of Sunan Bonang's missionary efforts to spread Islam on the island of Java. This study focuses on social conditions, missionary strategies, challenges, methods, and successes in spreading Islam on the island of Java, through reference to books, journals, and recent articles. The results show that Sunan Bonang utilized local arts and culture, such as gamelan, tembang (traditional Javanese music), and suluk (traditional Islamic chanting) as a means of propagating Islam. This strategy was not only effective in conveying Islamic values but also created harmony between Islamic teachings and local culture, ultimately giving rise to a distinctive Nusantara Islamic identity. This research confirms that a cultural approach to missionary work plays a crucial role in creating a contextual and sustainable form of Islam in a multicultural society like Indonesia.
Jauharotina AlfadhilahAkhla Shofia Kumala

https://ejournal.iainutuban.ac.id/index.php/aswalalita/article/view/1300

This study aims to analyze the role of the Integrated Hajj Information and Computerization System (Siskohat) as an innovation in da’wah management within the modernization of hajj administration in Indonesia during the Society 5.0 era. Siskohat is viewed not merely as an administrative tool but also as a transformative da’wah medium that emphasizes transparency, accountability, and technology-based services. Employing a qualitative approach through library research, this study explores the integration between da’wah management and the digitalization of hajj bureaucracy. The findings indicate that the implementation of Siskohat enhances the effectiveness of pilgrim data management, accelerates administrative processes, and provides broader access to information for the public. Furthermore, the utilization of Siskohat aligns with the principles of da’wah management, which prioritize community service (khidmah al-ummah) through technological innovation. The study concludes that Siskohat represents a strategic innovation in realizing modern, adaptive, and pilgrim-oriented hajj governance in the Society 5.0 era, and serves as a model for digital-based da’wah management practices in Indonesia.
Siti Kris Fitriana Wahyu LestariMira Shodiqoh

https://ejournal.iainutuban.ac.id/index.php/aswalalita/article/view/1301

Over time, the types of media used to spread Islamic teachings have become increasingly diverse. Today, social media, particularly YouTube, has become extremely popular among the general public. YouTube offers an effective alternative for accessing information. However, the ease of accessing information also presents challenges, such as the limited ability of some Indonesian society to filter positive content. This can lead to issues like intolerance. In fact, the application of tolerance in Indonesian society can create a harmonious and mutually respectful life. During Ramadan 2023, content produced by Habib Ja'far and Onad suddenly became popular, especially because the interfaith discussions they presented strongly emphasized the value of tolerance without demeaning others. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The data is divided into two types: primary, which consists of Habib Ja'far as the subject of his preaching, and secondary, which includes books, news, and literature related to tolerance preaching in Indonesia. The results of the study show that Habib Ja'far always emphasizes the value of tolerance in his preaching. His messages are delivered in a polite and respectful manner, with good communication skills, successfully attracting the attention of both Muslim and non-Muslim communities. These messages cover various da'wah topics, including knowledge about other religions and the importance of mutual respect and appreciation for differences. With a smart, loving, and relaxed approach, Habib Ja'far encourages his audience to strengthen interfaith relations and build an inclusive society.
Siti Nur AfidahBobby Rachman Santoso

https://ejournal.iainutuban.ac.id/index.php/aswalalita/article/view/1302

This study examines the strategic role of alumni networks in reproducing the tradition of the kitab kuning and preserving pesantren scholarly authenticity, based on a case study of the KESAN (Keluarga Santri Langitan) Alumni Organization in Widang, Tuban. Using a qualitative approach and case study methods (in-depth interviews, observation, and secondary data analysis), the findings show that KESAN acts as a Reproducer of Habitus (Bourdieu) through disciplined kitab kuning instruction and as a Guardian of Tradition by filtering modernization through regular musyawarah.
The study identifies four main mechanisms: maintaining an intellectual alumni network for authentic knowledge transmission; reproducing santri habitus through discipline and modesty; transmitting cultural capital (knowledge of kitab kuning, Arabic proficiency, and religious authority) to the community; and supporting pesantren economic development through alumni entrepreneurship. The findings show that alumni organizations can adapt modern technologies without eroding tradition while reinforcing resistance to globalization. This study affirms Bourdieu’s cultural reproduction theory in the pesantren context, highlighting alumni as cultural agents linking tradition with contemporary dynamics. The sustainability of pesantren scholarly authenticity depends on strong alumni networks and contextualized teaching adaptations.
Emi Fahrudi
