Early Childhood Education plays a crucial role in building the foundation of children’s development, particularly in fostering creative and imaginative thinking skills. Through the loose parts approach, children are encouraged to explore and create using various natural materials such as stones, bamboo, wood, seeds, and seashells. These materials allow children to experiment freely according to their own ideas and imagination, thus stimulating flexible, innovative, and independent thinking. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observations of children’s play activities, interviews with teachers, principals, and parents, as well as documentation of learning activities. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing to gain an in-depth understanding of the implementation of loose parts learning based on local natural materials. The results show that the use of loose parts from local natural materials significantly enhances children’s creativity. Children become more active, curious, and able to produce unique creations from simple natural objects. Moreover, this activity fosters environmental awareness and strengthens the connection between learning and real-life experiences. Therefore, loose parts learning using local natural materials is proven to be an effective strategy for developing creativity and ecological awareness in early childhood education.
Rifqi Aulia Ulya Ainur Rofi’ah Copyright (c) 2025 Alzam: Journal of Islamic Early Childhood Education 2025-10-31 2025-10-31 5 2 52 62 10.51675/alzam.v5i2.1280 Classroom Assesment Pada Perkembangan Keaksaraan Anak Usia Dini Melalui Media Flash Card https://ejournal.iainutuban.ac.id/index.php/alzam/article/view/1281
This study aims to enhance the gross motor development of children aged 5-6 years at RA Hidayatus Sholihin Merakurak through the implementation of the traditional game Ceu Cat. Data collection techniques were carried out through structured observations and in-depth interviews selected purposively with PAUD teachers, school principals, and education supervisors. Interview data were analyzed using thematic analysis through theme identification and cross-source triangulation. The results of the study indicate variations in the level of readiness and competency between certified and non-certified teachers. These differences are influenced by factors such as access to training, time constraints, costs, and institutional policies. The implications of the study emphasize the importance of expanding access to training, professional mentoring programs, and more inclusive portfolio development guidelines. The conclusions of this study emphasize the need to strengthen professional development pathways for non-certified PAUD teachers to support the improvement of the quality of early childhood education services in public schools.
Alya Lathifa Arjum Atrianis Norhidayah Rizky Nabila Harahap Rita Kurnia Copyright (c) 2025 Alzam: Journal of Islamic Early Childhood Education 2025-10-31 2025-10-31 5 2 72 82 10.51675/alzam.v5i2.1272 Creation of a Mini Library to Improve Children's Literacy Skills at SB At-Tanzil Kg Lindungan Malaysia https://ejournal.iainutuban.ac.id/index.php/alzam/article/view/1283
This study aims to improve the literacy skills of Indonesian migrant workers' children at SB At-Tanzil Kg Lindungan, Malaysia, through the creation and utilization of a mini library as a contextual learning medium. This study uses a classroom action research (CAR) method implemented in two cycles, with stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 20 elementary school students at SB At-Tanzil. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, literacy skills tests, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and qualitatively by comparing the results between cycles. The research results showed a significant improvement in children's literacy skills after the implementation of the mini library. In cycle I, most students were just beginning to get used to reading and writing simple summaries. However, in cycle II, students showed improvements in reading comprehension, better structured writing, and increased interest in and habit of reading daily. The mini library successfully created a conducive, enjoyable, and accessible literacy environment for migrant children. This improvement in literacy skills aligns with constructivist theory (Piaget, 1972; Vygotsky, 1978), which emphasizes the importance of interaction with the learning environment, and emergent literacy theory (Clay, 1991), which explains that literacy develops through meaningful reading experiences. The research results also support the concept of Contextual Teaching and Learning (Johnson, 2007), where learning linked to children's real lives fosters learning motivation and active engagement. Overall, this study concludes that creating a mini library is an effective strategy for improving the literacy skills of migrant workers' children. This program can be used as a model for inclusive and sustainable community-based literacy learning in educational environments for Indonesian children abroad.
Nurlaili Dina Hafni Chabibah Alamsyah Afifatul Askha Copyright (c) 2025 Alzam: Journal of Islamic Early Childhood Education 2025-11-04 2025-11-04 5 2 83 90 10.51675/alzam.v5i2.1283
